Bizen Ware Cylindrical Bud Vase - Shigarami-Tsutsu

Traditional Japanese Bizen ware shigarami-tsutsu, a small cylindrical flower vase suitable for a single stem or simple branch arrangement. The form is narrow and upright, with gentle horizontal throwing lines visible across the body.

Materials
Made from dense, iron-rich stoneware clay and fired at high temperature without an applied glaze. The pale cream and beige body is marked by strong red-orange hidasuki fire markings, produced during the wood-firing process. The surface also shows small natural mineral inclusions and variations in colour. The flat base is smoothed and unglazed, with a hand-incised maker's mark visible beneath.
