A double-sided antique Japanese Boro textile composed of multiple layers of historical, solid indigo, hand-patched fabrics, dating to Taisho Era (1912-1926). Because both faces feature their own unique, intricate arrangement of fabrics, this versatile piece is completely reversible and suitable for double-sided display. This item features a masterful expression of monochrome tonal depth. The front side showcases an incredibly sophisticated, abstract layout of overlapping solid indigo patches ranging from deep midnight hues to washed, sun-faded slate-blues, while the reverse reveals a striking composition punctuated by bold, graphic, geometric resist-dyed patterns that stand out beautifully against the dark indigo ground.

100% Handwoven, homespun, and hand-stitched antique cotton, indigo fabrics. Through decades of careful handling, natural ageing, and repeated washings, the textile has evolved a magnificent, complex patina. The entire surface is densely bound by rows of traditional hand-stitched Sashiko with original indigo dyed threads, which creates an extraordinary, heavily puckered, and rippled tactile texture across both faces.
