Antique Bamboo Basket - Biku Form Flower & Storage Vessel

A traditional Japanese basket hand-woven in the classic biku (gourd) shape. Originating from the late Meiji to early Showa era (circa 1910s–1940s), this elegant, narrow-necked form has long been celebrated in Japan as a rustic vessel for ikebana floral arrangements and interior display.

Materials
Handcrafted from finely split bamboo utilizing a vertical plaiting technique, reinforced with tight horizontal stabilizing bands and a heavy-duty twisted rim. The untreated bamboo surface has developed a beautiful variegation of tones, from deep golden-honey amber to darker smoky patches, earned through decades of natural aging and handling.
