Bizen Ware Wall Hanging Flower Vase - Kake-Hanaire

Traditional Japanese Bizen ware kake-hanaire, a small hanging flower vase designed to be suspended from a wall or wooden pillar. The compact cylindrical body has a narrow opening and an iron hanging ring fitted to the back.

Age: Late 20th Century

Materials
Made from dense, iron-rich stoneware clay and fired at high temperature without an applied glaze. The body has fired to deep purple-brown and chocolate-brown tones, with natural ash deposits forming a golden-yellow goma effect across one side. A distinct kiln mark runs through the ash deposit. The base is unglazed and retains subtle tool marks from the making process. The back bears an impressed maker's mark below the iron hanging ring.
