Vintage Japanese Wooden Daruma Mould
A hand-carved Japanese wooden Daruma mould with a simple, elongated form that follows the natural shape of the wood, dating from the first half of 20th century.
The mould has a heavily hooded silhouette, minimal facial features and pronounced tool marks across the surface. A circular bored hole is visible in the centre of the base.
Materials
Carved natural wood, with the grain and irregular contours of the original timber retained. The surface is unpainted, with dark brown natural ageing and areas of lighter exposed wood. Hand-carved facets remain clearly visible, together with fine surface cracking and a natural split running along the back. The underside has a central circular bored hole, showing part of the method used to secure or handle the piece during its making.

Condition & Antique Character
As an antique or vintage Japanese wooden figure, this piece has lived a previous life and shows clear signs of age and use. The wood has naturally darkened and developed variations in colour, grain and surface texture. The split along the back, fine age lines and small irregularities are part of the character of the aged timber. The central hole in the base is an intentional feature rather than damage.
Please note that colours may appear slightly different in person from those shown in the photographs, depending on lighting and screen settings.
