A double-sided antique Japanese Boro textile composed of multiple layers of historical, indigo, hand-patched fabrics, dating from the late 19th century. Because both faces feature their own unique, intricate arrangement of fabrics, this versatile piece is completely reversible and suitable for double-sided display. One side houses a strong patchwork motif splitting into multiple areas of the piece and it masterfully balances rugged, utilitarian patchwork.

Materials & Natural Dyes

100% Handwoven, homespun, and hand-stitched antique cotton, indigo fabrics. Through decades of careful handling, natural ageing, and repeated washings, the textile has evolved a magnificent, complex patina.

Condition & Antique Character
As an authentic antique artifact, this piece carries the beautiful imprints of its previous life. It possesses a pure wabi-sabi aesthetic, with honest signs of age, utility, and historic repair.

What to Expect: Beautiful areas of natural fading, uneven colour saturation, organic edge fraying, thinning zones, small historical marks, and multi-layered fabric windows. These elements are not flaws, but rather the highly coveted characteristics that verify its absolute antiquity.

The garment has been rinsed through with cold water but it has not been given a deep wash since we acquired from the previous owner.
